  1. This is an exposé over Bulgarian folk music at its best. One thing should be emphasized; all the music on this CD has its roots deep in the Bulgarian soil. This is wonderful music from one of Europes musically most interesting countries where east and west meets.

  2. The earliest recording available of Bulgarian folk music, the present album is a compilation of two previous ones, known as "A Harvest, A Shepherd, A Bride" and "In The Shadow Of The Mountain". Though overshadowed by the later "Le Mysterè Des Voix Bulgares", "Village Music Of Bulgaria" clearly beats the originally 4AD-released album for 5/5(9).

  3. The music of Bulgaria and Thrace are presented on this playlist. The distinctive harmonic style of Bulgaria came originally from the Volga region of Russia. The Macedonian people are also represented within modern Bulgaria.
